John Freeborn has been the principal partner of the FREEBORN DEVELOPMENT GROUP since 1985 and
recently with its wholly owned subsidiary FDG Financial Group. He has more than ten years of global business
development in over 34 countries with twenty years of project development experience. Mr. Freeborn’s industry
expertise includes: Aviation; Agriculture; Automotive; Chemical Production; Construction Equipment; Diesel
Power Systems; Environmental Technology; Marine and Waterway Transport; Mass Transit; Medical; Military;
Mining; Railroads and Utilities.
Mr. Freeborn has been quoted on numerous occasions in business trade articles on
international marketing. He received the Governor's Exporter of the Year Award for one of his clients and has
been nominated the SBA's Small Business Exporter of the Year. Mr. Freeborn participates on several
international roundtable panels.
Mr. Freeborn was presented with the 2003 Small Business Exporter of the Year award by Hon. Gov. Bob
Holden. He received the SBA’s 2004 St. Louis Exporter of the Year award and recently achieved the SBA’s
Region VII Export Champion of the Year. John was presented with the St. Louis International Partners
Achievement Award on May 20, 2004 for outstanding service to the business community by Mr. Carlos Poza,
Acting Director of the US Foreign Commercial Service and the US Ambassador to Hungary, Mr. George Herbert
Walker III.
In January 2004, Mr. Freeborn was nominated to a four-year term to serve on the Missouri District Export
Council by the U.S. Department of Commerce. John also works closely with the Small Business Administration
and the US Export-Import bank to develop international funding opportunities for small and medium sized
business.
Mr. Freeborn is considered an expert on international business. He has provided seminars and briefings on
trade development, export financing, competition and export strategy, market research and analysis and joint
venture development. John is also often called upon to share his expertise, working with foreign businesses
and government agencies and is a frequent lecturer on international business and marketing.
Project Experience
FDG Global Services has over $5 million of projects that are under development on behalf of our clients.
Recently we have assisted in exporting over $1.5 million in transactions. Our most recent projects experience
have been in Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Columbia, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Poland,
and the United Kingdom. FDG has successfully completed 5 projects with the SBA for the amount of $800,000
and worked with Ex-Im Bank for 3 projects consisting of $600,000.
We work with domestic and international agencies and business leaders, maintaining
professional liaison with key decision makers. Our professional associates stay on top of the pulse of key
industries that effect export trade. Many of our affiliates reside in important developing industrial countries. This
allows us to have up to date information on the politics and commerce in these international markets.
